The Asia and Pacific region has made significant progress in reducing poverty over the last half century. The poor and vulnerable populations suffer disproportionately from the adverse impacts of climate change and disasters, which results in loss of life, damage to household and community assets, disruption of livelihoods, and loss of income.

This project - Disaster Risk Reductino and Climate Change Impact Survey if Cultural Sites in the Republic of Palau: Reconnaissance Survey is the first phase of a longer-term initiative to examine archaeologically and culturally significant sites across the archipelago and assess their vulnerability to climate change, including but not limited to modelled projections of rising sea levels and sedimentation and erosion of sites vis-a-vis tidal inundation and rainfall.

However in many countries significant socio-economic inequalities between men and women still limit or prevent women's assess to education, property, financial assets, technology, political decision-making and other valuable resources.

The effects of climate change and increasing extreme weather events on the oceans are key challenges for small-scale fisheries. This study highlights some of the economic as well as non-economic losses and damages associated with these effects.
