The Pacific Meteorological Desk Partnership (PMDP) is a regional coordinated mechanism to respond to meeting weather, climate, water and ocean services development in the Pacific Islands region.

Under the preview of the Pacific Meteorological Council (PMC) five panels of experts in the field of meteorology and other related fields in the Pacific were established to serve in the capacity as an advisory body to the PMC on meteorological services for aviation; climate services; marine and oceans services; communication and infrastructure services and; education, training and research.

Healthy, resilient communities rely on accurate information, early warning, and a solid understanding of climate and weather patterns from a national team they trust. The Pacific Islands Meteorological Strategy 2017-2026 provides the development priorities of the Pacific Island National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs). PIMs sets out the strategic context and direction for strengthening NMHSs.

The Pacific Meteorological Council (PMC) is a specialised subsidiary body of the SPREP Meeting, transitioning from the Regional Meeting of Meteorological Services Directors (RMSD) during the 14th Regional Meeting of Meteorological Services Directors (14RMSD) in 2011, to facilitate and coordinate the scientific and technical programme and activities of the Regional Meteorological Services. The PMC provides policy relevant advice to the SPREP Meeting on the needs and priorities of SPREP members countries and territories in relation to meteorology, hydrology, oceans and related fields.
