Abstract
This audio report covers the environment and economic summit in Solomon Islands; plans to protect forests in Vanuatu; and phosphate mining in Nauru. Carolyn Court speaks to Gizzo Premier, Arthur Inusu during the conference which discussed the effects of logging and resulting problems. Luka Tanoni describes the cultural and environmental importance of Vanuatu Forests, including financial concerns regarding a project established to protect these forests. Phosphate mining in Nauru has devastated its environment. Michael Cummens, rehabilitation coordinator is quoted saying that rehabilitation will have to wait until secondary mining on devastated land is carried out.
